Why Thermal Paste is Important:

The surface of a CPU and the base of a CPU cooler aren't perfectly smooth. Microscopic imperfections can create air gaps that hinder heat transfer. Thermal paste fills these gaps, creating a more efficient pathway for heat to travel from the CPU to the cooler.  

Tips for Applying Thermal Paste:

• Clean the CPU and Cooler: Before applying new thermal paste, make sure both the CPU surface and the cooler base are clean and free of any old paste. You can use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth for this.  
• Apply a Small Amount: You only need a small amount of thermal paste. A pea-sized dot in the center of the CPU is usually sufficient.  
• Even Coverage: The goal is to achieve even coverage. The pressure from the cooler will help spread the paste, but you can also use a credit card or the applicator that comes with the paste to spread it evenly.
• Follow Instructions: Always refer to the instructions that come with the thermal paste for specific application guidelines.
